- Botox and Juverderm around the eyes
-
Question:
Hi, Just inquiring about Juvaderm. Is this more effective around the eyes than botox and can you have Juvaderm in the lines under your eyes as well as in the crows feet? Cheers.
Answer:
Botox and Juverderm work in two different ways. Botox weakens the part of muscles that cause the wrinkles so is best for lines that come and go as you squint and then relax, what we call dynamic lines. Juverderm is best for what we call static lines, those that are always there whether you are squinting or not. When we treat lines around the eyes we will usually choose Botox for the dynamic lines, and Juverderm for the static lines. Sometimes a combination of the two. For under the eyes and the lower eyelid Botox may weaken the muscle sling that stops puffy/baggy eyelids, so we are more likely to use Juverderm or another dermal filler.
