MyEllevate Sydney

MyEllevate Sydney - A less invasive Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty).

Address the early signs of ageing with MyEllevate. It is an alternative for those who do not want invasive surgery like a Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty or Lower Rhytidectomy) but want longer-lasting results than injectables. The procedure is already very popular with plastic surgeons in the USA treating facial wrinkles and skin laxity between the neck and jawline areas.

Cosmetic procedures like a Facelift (Rhytidectomy) or Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty) Surgery allow surgeons to reduce the signs of ageing on our faces. However, face surgery procedures are invasive and require surgical incisions on the skin around the area to be treated. My Ellevate provides a less invasive alternative. Dr Jeremy Hunt FRACS(Plas) is a Sydney Specialist Plastic Surgeon who has performed hundreds of face procedures. He is also a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) and a Surgeon Trainer for My Ellevate Australia - Cynosure.

What Is a Neck Lift (Lower Rhytidectomy / Platysmaplasty)?

A Neck Lift, also called a Lower Rhytidectomy or Platysmaplasty, is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess skin and fat in the neck and around the jawline. It aims to remove jowling and contour the jawline.

A Neck Lift Procedure can address the following concerns:

  • It tightens loose neck skin
  • It gets rid of jowling
  • It removes neckbands
  • It gets rid of excess skin tissue

A Traditional Neck Lift (Lower Rhytidectomy) incision typically starts in the hairline (at the sideburn), then continues down toward the ear lobe, and goes around behind the ear.

Alternatively, a Mini Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty) usually involves only two short incisions, one behind each ear.

What Are Light-Guided Neck Sutures?

The light-guided suture system is a modern technology that enables surgeons to treat neck skin laxity without large incisions, using light-guided sutures. Sutures aim to lift and tighten the underlying neck layers to sculpt the neck.

Using ICLED® Light Guidance, surgeons can strategically place permanent sutures inside the neck tissue with the Suturod®. The Suturod® is a surgical device that works like a needle and a thread, guided by light. It’s composed of a specialised rod with a fibre optic core, attached sutures, and an ICLED® light source at one end.

It transmits LED light through the neck tissue to help pinpoint the exact locations where the sutures need to be placed. Using the Suturod® Light-Guided ICLED® technology, we weave the underlying neck muscles and glands together with permanent neck sutures. We can also use this advanced light-guided surgical system for other cosmetic surgeries, such as Facelifts (Rhytidectomy) and Brow Lifts (Browplasty).

What Is MyEllevate?

MyEllevate® is a modern and less invasive neck procedure invented and developed by a Beverly Hills, CA, board-certified plastic surgeon. It’s regarded as an incision-free Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty) performed using light-guided neck sutures to tighten the neck and address the jawline.

MyEllevate may combine three procedures:

  • Fat removal from the neck and around the jawline using traditional Liposuction
  • Skin tightening using radiofrequency treatment
  • Tightening of the underlying neck muscles and glands using light-guided neck sutures

This procedure involves no incisions; the Suturod® device passes through small punctures in the neck under ICLED® Light Guidance. Therefore it aims to leave no scars and requires minimal downtime.

MyEllevate is a quick procedure that takes less than an hour to complete. It can be performed under local or general anaesthesia.

Why Patients Might Consider MyEllevate

Patients might consider MyEllevate for a number of reasons, including:

  • It doesn’t require incisions, only small puncture holes in the neck
  • It can be performed under local or general anaesthetic
  • It’s a short procedure – it takes about an hour or less
  • It requires little downtime – most patients need less than a week to recover
  • It has a lower risk of postoperative complications compared to more invasive surgeries
  • It costs less than a regular Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty)

Are You a Suitable Candidate for MyEllevate?

MyEllevate may be suitable for anyone with early signs of aging in the neck and around the jawline who doesn’t want to undergo invasive cosmetic surgery.

It’s not only for women; men can also undergo the MyEllevate Procedure.

You can consider getting this procedure if:

  • You have extra fat under your chin and along your jawline
  • Your jawline is starting to lose its definition
  • You have neckbands
  • You have some loose skin on your neck
  • You don’t want any incisions in your neck, on the sides of your face, or behind your ears
  • You want a procedure that addresses the appearance of your neck and requires little downtime because you don’t want to miss a lot of days of work or other regular activities

There are generally very few limitations to patient selection with this procedure. It can be performed on patients in their early twenties or late 60s. As long as you’re in good health, you can get a MyEllevate regardless of age, gender, skin type, and racial background.

However, if you have advanced signs of ageing in the neck and face with significant skin laxity, you may benefit more from a Facelift (Rhytidectomy) or a Full Neck Lift (Lower Rhytidectomy / Platysmaplasty).

How Is MyEllevate Different from a Facelift (Rhytidectomy)?

Facelift (Rhytidectomy) techniques can alter different areas of the face, elevate the cheeks, and target the jawline.

In contrast, MyEllevate addresses the lower neck region – it targets the neck and the jawline but doesn’t address cosmetic concerns in other areas of the face above the neck.

Moreover, a Facelift (Rhytidectomy) is done under general anaesthesia with incisions and is more invasive than MyEllevate. On the other hand, MyEllevate is less invasive, can be done under local anaesthesia, and doesn’t require any incisions.

Facelift (Rhytidectomy) recovery typically takes around 2 weeks, while MyEllevate recovery typically takes only a few days.

Meanwhile, a Traditional or Mini Facelift (Rhytidectomy) can typically give longer-lasting and more dramatic results than MyEllevate.

Therefore, MyEllevate can be suitable for those who have early signs of ageing restricted to the lower region of the neck.

How Is MyEllevate Performed?

Before your MyEllevate Procedure, you’ll receive a local or general anaesthetic (depending on what was agreed between you and Dr Hunt during your consultation) to help with any pain or discomfort. Your skin will be marked to help guide Dr Hunt through the procedure. Dr Hunt will perform the following steps:

  • First, he’ll make small punctures along your jawline. These punctures will be the access points of the Suturod® device
  • Then, he’ll use LED light guidance to insert the Suturod® device and strategically place sutures beneath the skin over the neck muscles and glands
  • After, the sutures are pulled to lace the underlying neck structures tightly together
  • Finally, the device is removed, and the punctures are closed with dissolvable sutures

The entire procedure takes around an hour to perform. It can be performed by itself or combined with other treatments, such as Liposuction and Radiofrequency Skin Tightening. MyEllevate is an advanced cosmetic procedure that requires special training and extensive knowledge of the face and neck anatomy.

Recovery After MyEllevate

Since it’s a less invasive procedure than a full surgery, the MyEllevate Procedure requires little downtime, and the recovery is often comparatively quick.

You can resume your normal activities almost immediately after your treatment. Most patients need about 4 days to recover from the MyEllevate procedure, during which you may need to wear a chin strap. You should also avoid smoking and vaping during recovery.

You might experience minor discomfort, bruising, and swelling for about ten days, especially if you get Liposuction. You may also experience some tightness or dimpling in your skin after the procedure. These minor side effects should subside within a few days.

You might immediately notice the difference in your neck contour. However, your results will continue to improve over the 3 months following your treatment.

Can We Combine MyEllevate With Other Procedures?

We often perform MyEllevate with other treatments, such as Liposuction to remove fat from the neck and jawline and Radiofrequency Skin Tightening treatments.

MyEllevate can also be combined with Chin Augmentation (Genioplasty) surgery with chin implants to aid the desired cosmetic outcomes.

What Is the Cost of MyEllevate?

The procedure costs are similar to the Traditional Neck Lift (Lower Rhytidectomy) or Facelift (Rhytidectomy) Surgery. But some would say the value is what you get:

  • May not need a general anaesthetic
  • No hospital stay
  • May not require hospital costs
  • May not require an anaesthetic fee

The exact cost of your MyEllevate Procedure may vary depending on whether you get it alone or in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures, such as Liposuction, Radiofrequency Treatment, or Chin Implant (Genioplasty).

After you consult with Dr Hunt, you’ll receive an estimate of the costs for your MyEllevate Procedure.

My Ellevate Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Difference Between a Thread Lift and MyEllevate?

MyEllevate is considered more accurate than a Thread Lift, and the results typically last longer. During a Thread Lift, your surgeon places superficial and temporary sutures to lift the skin. There are no “fixed” points that hold the threads, so the lift is less powerful and does not last as long. During MyEllevate, your surgeon strategically places permanent sutures over your deeper neck layers under light guidance. Light-guided permanent neck sutures aid in providing longer-lasting results.

How Long Will My MyEllevate Results Last?

Results from the MyEllevate procedure can last up to 4 to 5 years or more. This procedure can address your neck and jawline, but it doesn’t stop your natural ageing process. After the treatment, your face and neck will continue ageing, and your skin will relax again. In 4 to 8 years, you may request a different cosmetic procedure.

Is MyEllevate Better Than a Lower Facelift (Rhytidectomy)?

My Ellevate is designed to target the neck and will not address jowls. If neck contour is your goal, then MyEllevate might be your best option. If you wish to address your jowls, then My Ellevate can be combined with a Lower Facelift (Rhytidectomy). But if you’re looking for more dramatic results that last longer and don’t mind getting an invasive surgery, a Traditional Facelift (Rhytidectomy) or a Mini Facelift (Rhytidectomy) might be a better option.

How Long Does a MyEllevate Procedure Take?

The MyEllevate procedure takes approximately 60 minutes and can be performed in a procedure room in the clinic.

What Are the Risks and Complications of MyEllevate?

The procedure is associated with minimal risks, as it doesn’t involve major incisions. Swelling and bruising could occur after the procedure.
