LIP ENHANCEMENT & LIP FILLERS SYDNEY NSW
Lip Fillers can help plump your lips and make you look more youthful
Thankfully, both thin lips and lines are easily treatable with non-surgical procedures such as muscle relaxants and lip filler, a lip enhancement procedure. Dermal fillers can be injected both into and around the lips to create fuller lips and smooth wrinkles. A lip flip treatment could also help if you prefer not to have lip fillers. An upper lip lift surgery is also another more permanent option.
What are the Benefits of Lip Fillers ?
The lip filler treatment can give you the following benefits:
- Control over lip volume or add volume
- It’s a highly customisable treatment and can even out any lip imperfections
- Increased levels of self-esteem
- Less expensive than lip surgery
- Little to no discomfort or downtime
- Voluminous and fuller lips
- Younger-looking lips
What Causes Thinning Lips?
Aside from signs of ageing, other factors can lead to volume loss in your lips which results in thinning. These include the following:
- Sun damage
- Underlying medical condition
- Vitamin deficiency
Who is an Ideal Candidate for Lip Fillers ?
To be considered for lip fillers, you should have:
- Good physical and mental health
- Lip shape unevenness
- A desire to improve the aspect of your lips
- Realistic expectations
- Thin lips
- Wrinkles on the side of your mouth when you smile
Lip fillers are not right for you if you have:
- An active oral infection
- Bleeding or clotting disorders
- Severe skin sagging or wrinkling
- Unrealistic expectations
How is The Lip Filler Procedure performed?
During the procedure, the practitioner will offer options for pain killers or analgaesia that will range form applying a numbing cream or ice compress to your lips, the use of Nitrous Oxide gas known as “happy gas”, or a local anaesthetic nerve block. Each has advantages and disadvantages and this will be discussed in the consultation prior to your treatment.
The practitioner will then inject a thin needle into your lips to administer the filler. Depending on the area needing treatment, the lip fillers will be injected into the edges, centre of your upper lip, and corners of your mouth. On average, an amount of 1 ml will be injected and the needle won’t go deeper than 2.5 mm to ensure optimal results. Depending on your lip condition, the entire procedure can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete.
After the procedure, you may experience swelling, bruising, and sensitivity in your lips as side effects. The discomfort usually goes away without any medical intervention after 24 hours to 48 hours. In some cases, you may need to wait up to a week for them to completely resolve the treatment plan. Once the practitioner has assessed your overall health condition, you will be allowed to go home but you will need to return for follow-up after a few weeks.
Recovery after Lip Enhancement
The recovery period after lip enhancement procedure can take up to a few days for most patients. During this time, make sure to take the analgesic medication to alleviate the potential discomfort.
It is best to avoid strenuous physical activities during the first weeks after lip enhancement. Here are more recommendations for the recovery period after lip fillers procedure:
- Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol for at least two weeks
- Avoid direct heat and steam in your face
- Avoid massaging the lips
- Have a healthy and balanced diet
- Keep your body hydrated
To avoid risks and complications that could occur during the recovery period make sure to follow Dr Hunt’s indications.

Lip Filler FAQs
How long do lip fillers last?
Lip fillers are not designed to last a lifetime. In general, they last up to 12 to 14 months depending on the type of filler used. The longevity of lip fillers will also depend on your age and how fast your body breaks down the filler ingredient. While the results of lip fillers can be observed immediately, you may need to wait 2 weeks for the full effects of the desired outcome to become noticeable.
What are the Risks and Potential Complications of Lip Fillers ?
Getting lip fillers poses some risks that are minimal in well-trained hands but may include:
- Bleeding at the injection sites after lip injections
- Bruising & Discolouration
- Lip asymmetry or unevenness
- Migration of the filler towards the nose or other facial areas
- Poor cosmetic injectors / cosmetic injections
- Vascular occlusion and Death of tissue (necrosis)
