How are dermal fillers used?
We commonly use dermal filler on the cheeks, lips, tear troughs and the jaw area.
Fillers are very good at treating:
- Lines from the nose to the mouth
- Forehead lines
- Frown furrows
- Lines above the upper lip (‘smoker’ lines)
- Acne pits
- Crows feet
As well as adding fullness to:
- Thin lips
- Sunken cheeks
- The under eye area (tear troughs)
Dermal fillers can be performed within your lunch break, with the effect lasting up to a year.

Recovery after Dermal Fillers
The recovery period after dermal fillers can take up to a few days for most patients. During this time, it is possible to experience minor discomfort.
It is best to avoid strenuous physical activities during the first weeks after getting dermal fillers. Here are more recommendations for the recovery period after dermal fillers injections:
- Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol for at least two weeks
- Have a healthy and balanced diet
- Keep your body hydrated
To avoid risks and complications that could occur during the recovery period make sure to follow Dr Hunt’s indications.

FAQs
How long does the Dermal-Filler treatment take?
A typical dermal filler appointment can last between 15 – 30 minutes depending on how many areas you are having treated and how much volume is needed. As appointments are usually quick and convenient, many patients can have the procedure done on their lunch break and return to work afterwards.
When will I see the results?
Results can be seen immediately, and they gradually improve 2-4 weeks after the treatment. Results typically last between 6-12 months, however as fillers are not permanent it is best to repeat treatments to maintain consistent results.
Are dermal fillers painful?
This will depend on the individual and can vary from patient to patient, but there may be some discomfort during the procedure. Usually, it can be administered without anaesthetic as they already contain a small amount of local anaesthetic. However, depending on the area that is being treated and the pain tolerance of the patient, the injector can often apply a local anaesthetic or numbing cream to the area.
Are dermal fillers safe?
You sometimes hear of horror stories regarding dermal fillers that have been incorrectly administered, however these cases are extremely rare. As long as you go to a reputable injector, who is fully trained with lots of experience (like our lovely cosmetic nurse who has been practicing for over 15 years), then dermal fillers are extremely safe.
