- Lip shape unevenness
- A desire to improve the aspect of your lips
- Realistic expectations
- Thin lips

How is The Lip Filler Procedure performed?
During the procedure, the practitioner will offer options for pain killers or analgaesia that will range form applying a numbing cream or ice compress to your lips, the use of Nitrous Oxide gas known as “happy gas”, or a local anaesthetic nerve block. Each has advantages and disadvantages and this will be discussed in the consultation prior to your treatment.
The practitioner will then inject a thin needle into your lips to administer the filler. Depending on the area needing treatment, the lip fillers will be injected into the edges, centre of your upper lip, and corners of your mouth. On average, an amount of 1 ml will be injected and the needle won’t go deeper than 2.5 mm to ensure optimal results. Depending on your lip condition, the entire procedure can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete.
After the procedure, you may experience swelling, bruising, and sensitivity in your lips as side effects. The discomfort usually goes away without any medical intervention after 24 hours to 48 hours. In some cases, you may need to wait up to a week for them to completely resolve the treatment plan. Once the practitioner has assessed your overall health condition, you will be allowed to go home but you will need to return for follow-up after a few weeks.
Recovery after Lip Enhancement
The recovery period after lip enhancement procedure can take up to a few days for most patients. During this time, make sure to take the analgesic medication to alleviate the potential discomfort.
It is best to avoid strenuous physical activities during the first weeks after lip enhancement. Here are more recommendations for the recovery period after lip fillers procedure:
- Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol for at least two weeks
- Avoid direct heat and steam in your face
- Avoid massaging the lips
- Have a healthy and balanced diet
- Keep your body hydrated
To avoid risks and complications that could occur during the recovery period make sure to follow Dr Hunt’s indications.

How long do lip fillers last?
Lip fillers are not designed to last a lifetime. In general, they last up to 12 to 14 months depending on the type of filler used. The longevity of lip fillers will also depend on your age and how fast your body breaks down the filler ingredient. While the results of lip fillers can be observed immediately, you may need to wait 2 weeks for the full effects of the desired outcome to become noticeable.
