Dr Jeremy Hunt is one of Australia’s leading specialist plastic surgeons. With over 15 years experience and thousands of happy patients, Dr Jeremy Hunt is the smart choice for your plastic surgery or non-surgical procedure.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health professional.
Do you have loose or crepey skin around the neck? Excess fat? Look older than you’d like to? Then you’re the ideal candidate for neck lift surgery.
However, any surgery is a big and highly personal decision. That’s why Dr Hunt personally meets with each and every potential patient to discuss their situation and goals. During this consultation, Dr Hunt will explain neck lift surgery in detail, as well as evaluating your neck and face.
Dr Hunt will then recommend which neck surgery he feels will best achieve your desired results, whether liposuction (removal of excess fat), cervicoplasty (removal of excess skin) and/or platysmaplasty (tightening of the skin.)
After choosing your preferred hospital, your neck lift will be performed under general anaesthetic by one of Dr Hunt’s carefully selected anaethetist partners, all of whom are members of the Australian Society of Anaethetists. Your safety and care is Dr Hunt’s number one priority.
Your surgery may entail one or more of the following procedures:
- Liposuction: Dr Hunt will make a small incision below your chin to remove any excess fat from the neck area
- Cervicoplasty: Dr Hunt will make small incisions behind your ears or under your chin to remove any excess skin
- Platysmaplasty: Dr Hunt will make small incisions at your hairline or behind your ears to tighten any loose muscles and stretch any drooping skin
Your neck lift surgery may take anywhere between one and three hours, depending on the procedures required.
The result? A smoother, slimmer, younger-looking neck and years taken off you.
After your surgery, you will stay in hospital overnight. Once you’re discharged, you’ll be given a prescription for pain medication to minimise any further discomfort. Cold packs can also help.
You’ll see Dr Hunt during the days following your surgery. All sutures will be removed around one week after your procedure.
You will then have follow up visits with Dr Hunt at six weeks, six months and 12 months, to ensure that you’re both happy with your results.
You should allow around 10-14 days off work.
When you get home from hospital after your surgery, you’ll relax in bed for the first couple of days. It’s important not to move around too much at this very early stage.
You should not increase your heart rate above 100 beats for minute for the first three weeks after surgery, and must sleep with your head elevated on two pillows for the first week to 10 days.
However, you will be able to wash your face and take care of your incisions two days after your surgery, and wash your hair the day after this.
You can expect to see the final result of your neck lift approximately six weeks after your surgery. At this stage, you will meet with Dr Hunt to discuss your results.
